Verify the actual engine before trusting the story. The 277 uses a 3.75-inch bore and 3.125-inch stroke. Check casting numbers, stampings, bore, crank, heads, intake, date context, vehicle application, and physical measurements before calling it a 277, 301, 303, 313, 318 poly, 326 poly, Dodge poly, or Hemi-related swap.
277 versus later A-series poly engines.
The 277 is part of the A-series poly family, but it isn’t automatically parts-interchangeable with every later poly engine. Later 301, 303, 313, 318, and 326 variants can differ by bore, stroke, year, market, application, crank, pistons, heads, intake, and supporting hardware. Some family resemblance helps identification.
